The Beginning Reader's Bible By Tommy Nelson Publishing contains stories from the Old and New Testament. Each story is beautifully illustrated and is taken from the Bible (chapter and verse are marked.) The wording in some verses has been simplified for young reader's but the gist of the story remains true. I was pleasantly surprised at the easy readability and the accuracy of the stories.
I am leary of Children's Bibles as the often butcher the scriptures. I was pleased to see Tommy Nelson has successfully created a children's Bible that gives children access to the word of God in readability and in accuracy. While many children have a Bible in their home, the size of the book along with the smallness of the print can be intimidating to new readers.
Another feature available in The Beginning REader's Bible is the little interesting fact notes left on the pages explaining how God's word applies today or information regarding the writer of the passage covered in that story.
The end of the book contains the Ten Commandments, selected proverbs, the prayer of salvation and many other special items. I like the "Reading Chart" on which my child can write the date he read each story. I see this as a great tool to help children get in the habit of reading the Bible everyday.
Just another Thought From the Tub,
