The Beginning Reader's Bible By Tommy Nelson Publishing contains stories from the Old and New Testament. Each story is beautifully illustrated and is taken from the Bible (chapter and verse are marked.) The wording in some verses has been simplified for young reader's but the gist of the story remains true. I was pleasantly surprised at the easy readability and the accuracy of the stories.
I am leary of Children's Bibles as the often butcher the scriptures. I was pleased to see Tommy Nelson has successfully created a children's Bible that gives children access to the word of God in readability and in accuracy. While many children have a Bible in their home, the size of the book along with the smallness of the print can be intimidating to new readers.
Another feature available in The Beginning REader's Bible is the little interesting fact notes left on the pages explaining how God's word applies today or information regarding the writer of the passage covered in that story.
The end of the book contains the Ten Commandments, selected proverbs, the prayer of salvation and many other special items. I like the "Reading Chart" on which my child can write the date he read each story. I see this as a great tool to help children get in the habit of reading the Bible everyday.

The Chasm by Randy Alcorn
Nick Seagrave travels a land where he has not been before...or has he. The red road is recommended, but it seems long and uncertain. There are many other roads to travel and his new friend Joshua has offered to help him travese the roads. While his red road friends discourage him from leaving, Nick is sure he can do things better on his own besides who do they think they are to tell him what to do. On the other roads, Nick is often confronted with his former life and the man he was to his co-workers and family. He doesn't like what he sees, but is unsure of how to get where he really wants to go. Continuing on the path he started only leads to one dead end after another no matter where he turns, but the red road seems so
narrow.
narrow.Randy Alcorn weaves a remarkable allegory of the decisions we make and where they lead. Thought provoking questions at the end of the book give the reader a springboard from which to ponder the deeper meanings hidden in The Chasm. It would also make a great discussion guide for a youth group or book club. The Chasm is an overview of Nick Seagraves tale in Edge of Eternity.

Save the Date by Jenny B. Jones
Lucy longs to give love and acceptance to girls who have no hope through her non-profit organization. When the funding is cut for Saving Grace, Lucy is determined to corner those who have the money to give at the yearly gala given by Sinclair Enterprises.Alex Sinclair, ex-pro football player, and currrently running for Congress was born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth. His whole life has been one long success story. Anything he's ever wanted he's been able to get with plenty of hard work, his good looks, or his money. The race for public office is not coming along as he'd hoped and he has no idea how to turn the tide of public opinion in his favor until he meets Lucy Wiltshire.
Alex makes Lucy a proposal she can't refuse...no matter how much she would like to. In the process, both Lucy and Alex find the one thing they really needed.
Save the Date by Jenny B. Jones is a fantastic romantic comedy. Well-written, funny, and truly entertaining. I loved the quirky characters and their witty reparte. Jones has successfully
written a christian chic-lit book that is neither cliche nor hokey. Each character in Save the Date is unique and adds to the story line. While the main characters, Lucy and Alex are the "stars," the supporting characters are equally memorable. Clare, Julian, Morgan, Marinell, Chuck, Finley, and a host of others color the world of Lucy and Alex with vibrant personalities and problems in every hue.If you are looking for a great read and hours of hilarity, pick up Save the Date today.
